Systems may compress these events into short internal codes. Ask the custodian for the code definition. Do not translate a bare “released” label into “went home” when the destination names another authority.

Attala Release Expungement Effects
Mississippi Code § 99-19-71 expressly addresses a petition for expungement after an arrest when the person was released and the case was dismissed, charges were dropped, no disposition occurred, or the person was found not guilty. An expungement affects what the public can see. It does not change the fact that custody once ended. The Mississippi State Parole Board makes parole decisions. MDOC Community Corrections supervises parolees, probationers, people on earned-release supervision, and other authorized community statuses. Parole is conditional release before a sentence ends. Probation is generally a court-ordered community sentence or suspended-term condition and does not always follow prison. A supervision record can support that confinement ended under that status, but it does not resolve every other case or hold.

Attala's court record and physical jail record can sit in different counties. The court file explains why release was authorized. Leake's transaction establishes when physical custody ended. For a felony, Justice Court may hold the first appearance and early bond material, while Circuit Court later holds the indictment, judgment, sentence, and related orders. A city or lower-level case may use a different court.

Attala MDOC Discharge Help
Mississippi Code § 47-5-157 addresses written discharge or release and specified help for MDOC offenders. It should not be applied to every local detainee leaving Leake. For a state offender, seek the MDOC release or discharge certificate and actual date. For a local booking-record error, contact the agency that created the field and provide the court order or identity proof through its approved process.
This distinction matters for property and documents. Leake handles its own physical exit process. MDOC rules and assistance govern a state-prison release. No reviewed source states that either follows the same property pickup or identification process as the other, so confirm the applicable policy before travel.
Attala Jail Closure Changes Searches
Facility history changes the live search path. Attala closed its unsafe Kosciusko jail in 2016. In 2017, House Bill 1762 authorized Attala and Leake to enter an interlocal agreement for holding Attala inmates and ratified prior acts under the arrangement.
