Attala County VINE Coverage
Mississippi calls its service the Statewide Automated Victim Information and Notification program, or MS SAVIN. It is delivered through VINE and VINELink. The Office of Mississippi SAVIN describes tracking for MDOC offenders and people held in participating county facilities. Reported events may include release from custody, transfer, return to custody, escape, and abscond supervision. An abscond status means the supervising agency reports a loss of contact or compliance. It is not a new conviction.
Attala County requires an extra agency check. The former Attala jail closed, and current Attala detainees are ordinarily housed at the Leake County Correctional Facility. A VINE result could therefore be fed by Leake as physical custodian, by MDOC after a state commitment, or by another participating agency. Statewide coverage does not prove that each Leake record is present or current at every moment. Search the specific person, inspect the reporting agency, and use the phone fallback if the record is absent.
Note: A VINE no-result response is inconclusive because agency participation, spelling, record movement, and update timing can affect what appears.
Search Attala County VINE Records
Begin with the name used at booking and an identifying number when known. A birth date, age, booking number, or MDOC number can separate people who share a name. The VINELink search interface starts with a state selection. Choose Mississippi, then open the custody or offender search offered by the live interface. Search only one person at a time and inspect all possible matches before opening a record.
- Select Mississippi in VINELink.
- Enter the first and last name, plus an offender or booking ID when available.
- Compare the result’s age, date of birth, identifier, and reporting agency with known facts.
- Open the matched record and read the current status, location, last update, and any reported release date.
- Save the record address and capture time, then confirm the key event with the feeding agency.
If no match appears, try a verified alias or alternate spelling. Next test the physical custodian, Leake County, and MDOC as separate lanes. Attala Sheriff can identify where an Attala arrest was sent. The broader Attala County released-inmate search path explains how the sheriff’s jail docket and the court disposition support a result when a live notification record is missing.
The captured VINELink screen below shows the Mississippi selection and search route. It illustrates the interface, not any person’s status. View the current screen at VINELink before relying on button names or available fields.
The live service may change its layout, so the reporting agency and record update time carry more weight than the visual position of a field.
Attala County VINE Result Fields
Fields vary with the agency feed. MS SAVIN expects name and, when supplied, an offender or booking identifier. The record may state custody status, agency, facility, and a reported change date. A released label means that source reported a custody change. It does not establish why the person left, whether the exit was to the community, or whether a different authority took custody.
Read the agency name before interpreting any field. A Leake entry can document the physical exit of an Attala detainee, while an MDOC entry concerns state custody or supervision. The same date label can describe a feed update, a planned event, or an actual change, depending on the source. Compare the identifier and location with the prior record, then ask the named custodian for its release code and destination. This check prevents a county-to-state transfer from being reported as freedom and keeps a later state release from being confused with the earlier local booking.
| Field | How to read it |
|---|---|
| Name and identifier | Use both to avoid mixing people with similar names. |
| Reporting agency | Shows which source supplied the status and which office should confirm it. |
| Custody status | May show in custody, released, transferred, or another agency-defined state. |
| Facility or location | Identifies a reported placement, not the legal result of the Attala case. |
| Change or update date | May reflect data entry or feed timing rather than the exact physical exit minute. |
| Release date | When present, confirm it against the custodian’s dated exit transaction. |
Register Attala County Release Alerts
Registration begins from the correctly matched record. Select only the event types and contact channels offered by the live service. Phone, text, and email may be available. A telephone registration traditionally asks for a personal identification number, or PIN, so the registrant can confirm receipt. A digital channel may use a link or code instead. Do not use an easy PIN, and do not share it.
- Open the verified person record.
- Choose the notification or registration control.
- Select the available events, such as release, transfer, or return to custody.
- Enter the phone number, text number, or email address requested.
- Create a PIN when the telephone flow requests one, or complete the digital verification.
- Keep the confirmation and update the contact route when it changes.
The official MS SAVIN notification page lists custody-change types and assistance contacts. The screenshot from that source documents the service’s notification scope and contact route.
Automated notice is useful for timely awareness, but MS SAVIN itself provides staff contacts because an alert may need confirmation against the source record.
Attala VINE Registration Link
MS SAVIN’s Registration Link is unusually useful in Attala County. A person may begin as an Attala detainee physically held in Leake County, then enter MDOC after felony commitment. The feature can carry an existing county-level notification registration into the state offender record. That reduces the risk of losing the alert solely because the legal custody lane changed.
The link does not transform a transfer into a release. It joins records for notification purposes. When the county feed shows an exit to MDOC, open the later MDOC record and compare identifiers, county of conviction, entry date, and location. A transfer from Leake into an MDOC unit means confinement continues. A later parole or earned-release event may trigger a different notice while MDOC jurisdiction remains.
Note: Keep the original county registration confirmation until the later MDOC record and its notification status have been matched.
Confirm Attala County VINE Releases
For a Leake-held Attala detainee, call Attala Sheriff at 662-289-5556 to confirm the arresting record and custody route. Then contact Leake County Correctional Facility at 601-298-9003 for the physical exit transaction. Ask for the booking number, exact release or transfer date and time, release code, code definition, and destination. “No longer here” proves too little.
For an MDOC offender, compare the inmate detail and parolee data. A tentative release date is only a projection. The strongest state proof is a release or discharge certificate or an official MDOC records response. The Office of MS SAVIN can be reached at 601-359-5759 during business hours. Its round-the-clock representative line is 888-967-7284, and TTY service is 866-847-1298. Staff may confirm what an automated notice means, but no phone call guarantees access to protected data.
- Release
- Physical custody ends under the reported authority, sometimes into supervision.
- Transfer
- One custodian hands the person to another, so confinement may continue.
- Discharge
- The sentence or agency jurisdiction reaches its endpoint.
- Tentative date
- An expected MDOC date that can change before an actual release.
Reconcile Attala VINE Status Changes
When VINE and an agency record appear to disagree, preserve both results before seeking an explanation. Record the person’s name, identifier, reporting agency, displayed status, update time, and the time the screen was viewed. Mississippi uses Central Time. A notification received in another time zone can make the sequence look wrong unless each timestamp keeps its source zone. Never supply an exact exit hour when the source states only a date.
Next trace the event by its custody lane. A bond alert should be checked against the Attala bond order and Leake exit record. A transfer-to-MDOC notice should lead to an MDOC admission or location entry. A return-to-custody notice should be compared with the agency named in that alert. If the identifiers do not match, stop before joining the records. Similar names and reused search terms can produce a false match.
A court disposition provides the legal reason, but it may not show the minute that staff completed release processing. The jail transaction provides the physical event, yet its short code may need the custodian’s codebook. VINE republishes the reported change and can be the fastest notice, but it remains derivative. A sound Attala County VINE check therefore keeps all three roles separate: court authority, custodian action, and notification delivery.
If an alert is wrong, report the precise field to MS SAVIN and the source agency. Ask the record creator to correct its system and any downstream feed. Keep the alert, the official response, and the corrected record together so a later status is not mistaken for the original event.
Attala VINE Check Limits
VINE does not replace the jail exit record or Attala court disposition. A feed can lag, an identifier may be wrong, and a status can reflect the agency’s data entry time. The court can explain bond, dismissal, sentence, or revocation, while the physical custodian records when the person crossed the gate. Preserve both when timing or legal outcome matters.
Federal Bureau of Prisons records are outside this county and MDOC notification lane. Use the BOP Inmate Locator for a sentenced federal prisoner. Immigration custody has its own ICE locator. A Leake exit marked BOP, USMS, ICE, or another agency is a transfer unless the receiving source establishes otherwise. No notification service should replace direct emergency or safety planning.
